Pharmacists are desperately needed to serve the growinghealth care sector. Salary.com states that the majority of pharmacologists earn between $98,000-$109,000. The highest paid positions are on the west coast of the United States.

Over 41% of pharmacy jobs are held by professionals with a JD, MD, or PhD.. Over 25% of the companies have less than 25 employees and almost 16% of the companies have more than 15,000 employees.

Bureau of Labor Statistics states that in 2008-2009 there is an expected increase of pharmaceutical techs needed by 32%. This is a much faster than average increase in demand compared to all occupations.

The primary reason cited is an aging population that uses more prescription drugs and scientific advancements, which are developing more drugs to fight illnesses. Pharmacists required to do studies and fill the orders.

Continuing education for pharmacologists is not elective. It is becoming increasingly important that both pharmacists an pharmacy technicians are aware of the new medications. They must be keen to the names, class, side effects and possible interactions with other drugs.

As health insurance companies try to discover ways to cut costs, pharmaceutical technicians will be used to do many of the typical and admin responsibilities that were done by the pharmacist.

Almost all States have laws stating the maximum number of technicians who can safely work under the supervision of a pharmacist at one time. Changes in these regulations could directly affect jobs

The career opportunities in this field differ significantly. There are community pharmacists who compounds and medications. They are also responsible for transferring prescriptions, logging data and answering patient inquiries.
