Left Handed Keyboards for Both Lefties and the Right-Handed

by Frank Barnett

People who were born lefties now have the option to get left handed keyboards. However, both the left-handed and the right-handed have much to benefit from a left handed keyboard. For the right-handed population, this type of keyboard enables them to maximize the use of the mouse. Moving the hand from mouse to keyboard is reduced.

For the lefties, one of the top benefits of using a left handed keyboard is the prevention of shoulder strains they usually experience with the use of regular keyboards. They can easily place the mouse and move it to the left side of the keyboard to make hand movements to and from the keyboard more convenient. Lefties no longer have to adjust to using normal keyboards and could welcome a whole new level of experience.

How does the left handed keyboard differ from the common type of keyboard? It still has the standard QWERTY configuration of the letter keys but the numerical keypad, the arrow keys, and accessory keys (e.g. arrow, delete, insert) are placed on the left side of the letter keys. Southpaws will be able to maximize their typing speed and keyboard use. Left-handed people are less likely to experience shoulder strains if they use the kind of computer keyboard suited to their abilities.

The right-handed might also find some convenience in the arrangement of the left handed keyboard. If they find the time to test it out, using this type of keyboard can offer better comfort and efficiency. Right-handed persons commonly use the right hand to use the mouse. When they need to use numerical or accessory keys in the middle of encoding, the hand lets go of the mouse before going back again.

Imagine your right hand never leaving the mouse while your left hand taps away at the keyboard. This could prove extremely helpful to data encoders or people using spreadsheets, who constantly find themselves shifting their wrists, hands, and fingers. Also, keyboards for the left-handed enable you to place the mouse in a more comfortable position near the center of your body.

The left handed keyboard also offers great benefits to gaming enthusiasts. Some online games usually entail a combination of keys and mouse clicks. Whether a gamer is left-handed or right-handed, this type of keyboard enables him to use his right hand solely on the mouse and his left on the numerical keypad.

The left handed keyboard is similar to regular keyboards except that number keys, arrow keys, and accessory keys are positioned in the left side of the keyboard. It offers wonderful benefits including better comfort and convenience to the left-handed as well as to right-handed persons.
