Audible Books : Helping Your Children Grow
Most parents do not look forward to trying to convince their children to go to sleep at a reasonable hour. But having your kids listen to audiobooks can prevent the nightly battle and convince your children that it's time to go to bed.
It turns out, according to a recent survey, that children who listen to audiobooks at bedtime fall asleep more quickly and are less likely to develop nagging sleep problems. This is because listening to a rhythmic voice helps our brains release amyltriptins, a special kind of hormone that tends to make us drowsy.
An extra advantage to playing audible books at bedtime is the opportunity for you to be more productive during this time. Since you will not need to lay with your kids while waiting for them to fall asleep, you will be able to turn your attention to other matters. Finally, by allowing your children to learn how to put themselves to sleep they will develop more independence.
Short stories, fantasy novels, traditional fairy tales and poetry can make a wonderful part of your young child's bedtime routine. The rhythm inherent in these genres helps lull kids to sleep. Other form of literature, such as science fiction, non-fiction, drama, mystery, and adventure typically do not employ a calming rhythm, and the content may be more activating as well.
